The role of the Lector is to proclaim the Word of God at each of the Eucharistic celebrations. The people in the ministry should have the noble and unselfish desire to tell the good news of God’s love for the world in Jesus Christ. To proclaim that good news from the sacred text is indeed a wonderful honour for all Lectors. To “proclaim” God’s word is more than simply reading the scriptures aloud in liturgical assembly. It must be uttered with conviction, clarity, and skill. Proclaiming God’s word is a very special kind of reading.
