Dear Parishioners,
While we all come to grips with the new protocols for physical distancing, isolation and quarantine, we are happy to report that we still have several Vincentian teams that are continuing to make visits to the people in our Parish community who are struggling to make ends meet. That is, those volunteers who are both healthy and willing, are "visiting" without coming into direct contact with anyone. We have been arranging a time to visit the client's home, we then leave a grocery store voucher either in their mailbox or taped to their front door, and then the client retrieves the voucher after we have walked away. This system has worked well so far, but we are concerned that our resources may soon exceed our best intentions.
Our Conference would like to let the Parishioners of the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate know that we are still doing our best to serve the poor in our community, but we will need your help to keep this program in service. The Basilica's St. Vincent de Paul Conference has subscribed to "Canada Helps" which is an online donation application that allows charities to collect funds over the internet.
