Lockdown at the Basilica
In accordance with yesterday’s announcement from the provincial government furthering the Lockdown and the Stay At Home Order the following will be in place:
- Masses for the weekend of April 17/18 will be celebrated as usual with a limit of 150 people in the Basilica.
- Beginning at 12:01am on Monday, April 19, the Basilica will be closed, and there will be no public Masses or Devotions until the government lifts the Lockdown measures. Daily Mass will still be celebrated privately in the Basilica and the Rectory Chapel for all your intentions. Anyone who has made a Mass Request be assured that your Mass will be said.
- Weddings and Funerals are permitted but are capped at ten people including the priest, organist and any ministers. Baptisms are also limited to ten people including the priest and the child being baptized.
- Phone messages and e-mails will be checked regularly. If you need a priest for an emergency or if you would like to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation please e-mail me personally at [email protected] rather than using the parish e-mail. If you need a priest for yourself or a loved one at Guelph General Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre or Hospice Wellington, please speak to the Charge Nurse or a staff member. All these places have a priest on call to serve your, or your loved one’s, spiritual needs.
Once again if you are able to continue your regular offerings that would be very much appreciated. The Mail Box at the Parish Office will be checked three times a day. There will also be someone in the Parish Office from 11:00am to 12:00pm and from 1:00pm to 2:00pm Tuesday through Friday, and from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Saturdays if you would prefer to hand your donation in.
Please know that you will all be in my prayers, and I hope and pray that this is our last Lockdown, and that we are all back together for good soon.
Be safe and well, and Keep The Faith!
God Bless You All,
Fr. Ian
