This Sunday is the annual World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Please join Catholics throughout the world in praying for a generous response to the call to the priesthood, consecrated life, the missions and lay ministry. Every priest, every consecrated person, faithful to his or her own vocation, radiates the joy of serving Christ and draws all Christians to respond to the universal call to holiness.
Today we celebrate Canadian Health Day honouring thousands of people who work in heath care facilities and community services across the country. As baptized Christians we are called to take responsibility for our personal health; to prevent illness and to seek a healthy lifestyle. Health means concern for the health of our communities, respect for God’s creatures and the nurturing of the whole earth. We are prompted by the love of Jesus to become channels of healing for those who suffer and who are sick.
Today we wish to extend our prayers and best wishes to all mothers in our parish community for the example of their love and devotion to their families. May all deceased mothers be rewarded generously by God. May the blessings and love of Our Lord and His Blessed Mother Mary, be with all mothers, today and always.
