Message from Father Ian Duffy
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
As we approach Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week, I want to assure all of you of my prayers for you each day. My Mass and Rosary are offered daily for you and your intentions.
No doubt for many of you there is an emptiness as we approach Holy Week knowing that we will be without the time honoured rituals and ceremonies that are so dear to us and mark our holiest time of year in a most beautiful way. I know that I will miss them greatly this year. As much as I love Christmas, Holy Week is my favourite time of the year.
However we must remember that the message of Holy Week is a message of the triumph of life, love and holiness over death! The triumph of Christ Himself. In these dark days it is important for us to remember that Christ is Triumphant - as St. John says, “the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”.
Unfortunately I am still in isolation until Monday, and will be unable to live stream Palm Sunday from the Basilica. I encourage all of you to join Bishop Crosby for Mass for Palm Sunday from the Cathedral-Basilica of Christ the King, which will be broadcast on CHCH TV at 1:00pm this Sunday.
Mass for Holy Thursday, the Liturgy for Good Friday, and Mass for Easter Sunday will be live streamed from the Basilica. I will forward details as soon as possible.
Thank you very much for all of your prayers for my recovery. I am happy to say that I am well on the mend, and should be back in circulation on Monday.
I remain faithfully yours in Christ,
Fr. Ian
